Stylist Kim Na-ra, who won tvN's fashion competition "Kill It: Style Creator Showdown" in July, announced her marriage to her same-sex partner of eight years Sunday.
“After years of challenging norms, fighting for our place and simply existing as ourselves in a country that still doesn’t legally recognize our love, we are getting married,” she wrote on Instagram on Sunday. “We don’t need permission to celebrate our love, and we are definitely not waiting around for the world to catch up.”
Kim said they wanted to build a life together in their own way, without worrying about what others might think.
“We want to show what it looks like to build a beautiful life together, unapologetically, on our own terms,” she wrote.
The stylist also said she hoped their story would give other LGBTQ+ couples the confidence to plan a future together.
“If our little story can give even one queer couple out there the courage to believe in their own future, that would mean everything to us.”
